Women's Basketball Squares Off With Oral Roberts on Thursday

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (1-1) returns home to host Oral Roberts (2-1) on Thursday night inside Hyland Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
 
The Lions are coming off a 76-63 loss to No. 16 Baylor last Sunday. Lindenwood trailed by 15 after one quarter, but outscored the Bears 54-52 the rest of the way, Lindenwood clawed back to get within six during the third quarter, with the help of 14 points during the frame from Ellie Brueggemann. The Owasso, Okla. native finished with a team-high 20 points.
 
Through a pair of games so far this season, the junior guard is averaging 18 points, 3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2 steals per game. She has shot nearly 56 percent from the field, including 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, while making four threes in each contest.
 
Gracie Kelsey and Gracy Wernli were the other two Lions to score in double figures against the Bears. Kelsey stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists. The five dimes were a career-high for the Agency, Mo. native. She knocked down two shots from beyond the arc which was also a career high.
 
The Black and Gold have made at least nine three pointers in each game so far this season and are tied for the most in the Ohio Valley Conference with 21, while shooting 40.4 percent from three-point range, third best in the conference.
 
This will be the second meeting between the two squads and the first inside Hyland Arena. The Golden Eagles defeated the Lions 99-79 last season in Tulsa. Brueggemann had a team-high 16 points, while Alyssa Nielsen and Kelsey chipped in 12 followed by Wernli with 11.
