On Monday, the OVC-Big South Association announced its last weekly awards of the 2025 season. Carter Johnson of the Lindenwood football team was named Freshman of the Week.

Johnson has started at defensive back the last two games and made the most of it. The Waukee, Iowa native compiled four tackles last Saturday in the win over SEMO while also registering his first career interception. He also had a pass breakup during the win.

The Lindenwood defense held the Redhawks to just 176 yards in the game and two first downs in the opening half. Overall, SEMO was limited to 15 rushing yards in the game.

Johnson becomes the third Lindenwood player to earn OVC-Big South Freshman of the week honors joining Rico Bond and Christopher Bennett Jr.
