Aleshia Jones of the Lindenwood women's basketball team has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Jones has made an immediate impact, both off the bench and as a starter this season. The graduate guard averaged 13 points per game in two wins last week for the Lions, while also grabbing 2.5 rebounds and dishing out 2.5 assists. The Leavenworth, Kan. native averaged 2.5 steals per contest and shot 67 percent from the field in both games.

So far this season, Jones has scored in double figures in four out of five games this season. Overall, she is averaging 13 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

Jones and the rest of the Lions head to Hawaii for an MTE with Santa Clara, Hawaii, and Vermont. Lindenwood will begin play on Friday against Santa Clara at 4:00 p.m. CT
