MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - The Lindenwood Women's Hockey team got back into the win column on Friday night as they defeated Bemidji State by a final score of 7-4. The seven goals scored was the most that the Lions have scored in a single game this season.
Michaela Paulinyova led the offense with two goals, while five other skaters lit the lamp including
Pusle Dyring-Andersen who scored her first goal as a Lindenwood Lion.
Lindenwood struck first in the opening period right after a power play had expired with 15:54 to go.

Josey Dunne-Weeks from in between the faceoff circles as the Graduate Student from O'Fallon, Missouri sent a wrist shot past the Beaver goaltender to grab the 1-0 lead. 20 seconds later, Bemidji State scored a goal to tie up the score at one. Later in the period, the Lions scored two more times to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
Lucie Quarto scored from the top of the blue line after Dyring-Andersen was able to guide the puck off a bounce in the middle of the Beaver defensive zone to put the Lions back in front by a score of 2-1. With less than a minute to go in the first, Paulinyova scored her first goal of the game on the power play to put the Lions up by two off assists from
Molly Henderson and
Rhaea Flint. Lindenwood had nine shots in the first 20 minutes of play, with Gundersen leading the charge with two.
In the second period, Dyring-Andersen scored her first goal in a Lion uniform off a rebound in front of the net.
Zsofia Pazmandi was able to skate through the Beavers defense and fired a shot that allowed Dyring-Andersen to tap it in the back of the net to put the Lions up by three. The Beavers wouldn't go down without a fight however, scoring the final two goals of the second period to cut the Lindenwood lead at 4-3 with 20 minutes to go.
Lexington Secreto made several big saves in the second period to keep the Lions in front, stopping nine out of 11 shots. In the third period,
Molly Henderson put the Lions back in front by two goals off a great pass from
Hannah Dods with less than eight minutes to go in the contest. The Beavers cut the Lion lead down to 5-4 a minute later, but but Lindenwood scored the final two goals of the game including an empty net goal scored by Paulinyova to take the first game of the series with Bemidji State by a score of 7-4.
The defense for the Lions came up big in several different situations throughout the game as the team recorded 16 total blocks.
Josey Dunne-Weeks,
Molly Henderson, and
Zsofia Pazmandi each had three blocks each. Pazmandi also led the team in shots on goal with four as the Lions finished the contest with 34 shots on goal.
The final game of the series with the Beavers is set for tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
