The Lindenwood women's basketball team (7-3) fell on the road to No. 11 Iowa (10-1) by a score of 102-68 on Saturday afternoon in Iowa City, Iowa
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood trailed 8-7 at the 5:25 mark of the opening frame following a steal from
Aleshia Jones and a layup by
Brooke Coffey. Coming out of the timeout, Iowa grew the lead to 10 at 22-12, but
Ellie Brueggemann knocked down a corner three, making the score 22-15 in favor of the Hawkeyes. Lindenwood trailed 24-15 after one.
The Lions continued to trail by 10 early in the second quarter before Iowa went on a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 39-22 just before the halfway mark of the quarter. The Black and Gold cut the deficit down to 45-30 after a three from Coffey and would trail 50-34 at the break. Coffey had a team-high 13 points heading into the break as the Lions shot 48 percent from the field in the opening half.
Lindenwood opened the half on a mini 6-0 run capped off by an
Aleshia Jones jumper, which forced an Iowa timeout. The Hawkeyes responded with a 9-0 run to regain some separation and they would lead 72-49 after three.
Mya Skoff had 13 of Lindenwood's 19 points in the final quarter as she shot 5-7 from the field, including a pair of threes. The Lions fell 102-68 and moved to 7-3 on the season.
