The Lindenwood women's basketball team (20-9, 16-4 OVC) dropped its final game of the regular season to Tennessee Tech (24-5, 18-2 OVC) by a score of 77-59 on Saturday afternoon in Cookeville, Tenn.
Lindenwood took a 4-2 lead early with buckets from
Ellie Brueggemann and
Gracy Wernli, but Tennessee Tech responded with a 9-0 run to go up 11-4. The Golden Eagles pushed their lead to 11, however Lindenwood got the last four points of the quarter to trail 19-12 after one.
Brueggeman opened the second quarter with a three to cut the deficit to 19-15, but Tennessee Tech would go on a run once again and grab a 29-15 advantage three minutes into the middle frame, which forced a Lindenwood timeout. The Lions got the deficit to eight at 36-28 at half.
Gracie Kelsey led the Lions with eight points, while Brueggemann chipped in seven.
The Golden Eagles opened the quarter with an 11-2 run to take a 47-30 lead and would hold a 56-39 advantage after three. Brueggemann hit a three early in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 62-46 but couldn't get any closer with the Lions falling 77-59.
The Black and Gold will have a double-bye in the OVC Tournament after finishing the regular season in second place.
