The Lindenwood baseball team (8-9) suffered a tough 12-11 loss in game one to Murray State (9-3) on Tuesday afternoon in Murray, Ky.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood got on the board first after
Kam Edwards led off with a walk, he would eventually come around to score on a sac fly from
Tyler Thompson, putting the Lions up 1-0. The Black and Gold added to their lead with a two-run homer in the second by
Bryson Arnette, making the score 3-0.
Murray State answered back with three in the bottom of the second, knotting the game 3-3. It was Lindenwood's turn to respond in the top of the third with a two-run homer from
Jake Radosevich, as the Lions regained the lead 5-3. The Racers tied the game with a pair of runs in the fourth at 5-5.
Murray State took its first lead of the day with two more runs in the fifth, going up 7-5. It took Lindenwood just three batters to knot the game at 7 in the seventh.
Charlie Isom-McCall tripled and Edwards brought him home with a two-run bomb. The next two Lindenwood batters reached base with hits and Radosevich gave the Lions the lead with an RBI single, scoring
Tyler Thompson.
Brodie Short put the Black and Gold up by two with an RBI single, making the score 9-7.
The Racers got one in the bottom of the inning, cutting the deficit to 9-8 and one more in the seventh to tie the game at nine. In the ninth, Lindenwood took advantage of an error and Radosevich came up with a big two-out hit, driving in his fourth and fifth runs of the day, putting the Lions up 11-9. Murray State scratched two across in the bottom half, leveling the game at 11 apiece.
Murray State hit a walk off homer in the bottom of the 10
th to win game one, 12-11.
