The Lindenwood baseball team (17-18, 6-5 OVC) couldn't complete the comeback against SIUE (15-19, 8-4 OVC) falling 7-6 on Sunday afternoon at Lou Brock Sports Complex
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood threatened in the first and third with runners in scoring position but were unable to bring any across. SIUE got the scoring started in the fourth with a run, going up 1-0. The Cougars doubled their lead with another run in the fifth.
SIUE plated two more in the sixth, and one in the seventh to go up 5-0. The Lions finally broke through in the eighth with a big two-out hit from
Sam Grunberg that brought home
Jake Radosevich making the score 5-1.
The Cougars scored two more in the top of the ninth to extend the lead to 7-6. Lindenwood battled back in the bottom half, loading the bases with three walks. Radosevich cleared them with a double to right center, cutting the deficit to 7-4.
Tanner Simpson kept the line moving with a single that brought home Radosevich.
Sam Grunberg picked up an RBI single, bringing home Simpson, pulling the Lions within one at 7-6. SIUE was able to hang on and get the final out, winning 7-6.
