MOREHEAD, Ky. - Lindenwood softball (18-20, 9-10 OVC) fell in game one of a three game series against Morehead State (5-36, 3-15 OVC) in five innings by a final score of 15-4. The Eagles scored nine runs in the first inning as they knocked off the Lions for the opening game win.

After the Lions stranded two runners in the top of the first inning, the Eagles scored nine of their 15 runs in the bottom half of the first off of starting pitcher Owens. Owens allowed a lead-off double which would come around to score after a groundout. The Eagles picked up five straight hits in the inning forcing Roulanaitis to relieve Owens.
Morehead State increased their lead to 12-0 after scoring three more in the bottom half of the third before the Lions got on the scoreboard in the fourth with two runs. After singles by
Mya Bethany and Darnell, Bethany would score on a wild pitch and Brown would single home Darnell for the Lions' first two runs of the game.
Lucy Pratt and
Molly Heidrick finished on the game combing for 1.1 innings of work in the third and fourth, allowing three more runs to score. Noll and Darnell finished strong in the top of the fifth with back-to-back RBI doubles as the Lions ended the game with a score of 15-4.
