Lindenwood baseball (19-21, 7-7 OVC) shutout the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons (25-21, 14-14 GLVC) by the score of 10-0 in seven innings Tuesday night at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions got the scoring started when
Filip Sarota singled in
Jake Radosevich in the top of the first.
Tanner Simpson drove in two more later in the inning, giving the Lions a 3-0 lead after one. With one out in the bottom of the third, the Lions extended their lead to four after Radosevich singled in
Kam Edwards from second base.
After two quick outs to start the bottom of the sixth, a walk by
Sam Grunberg and a throwing error opened the door for a three-run Lion half-inning. With runners on first and second, Simpson doubled down the right field line scoring Grunberg and Sarota. The run-scoring double gave Simpson four RBIs for the game.
Bryson Arnette then singled in Simpson extending the Lions lead to 7-0.
Grunberg picked up a pair of RBIs in the bottom of the seventh making it 9-0 Lions. Lindenwood tacked on one more run a few batters later thanks to an Arnette single to left which sealed the 10-0 victory.
Michael Walsh got the start for Lindenwood and pitched 4.2 scoreless innings while allowing two hits, striking out three and walking one and earning his second win of the season in the process.
