PEORIA, Ill. - Lindenwood softball (24-25, 14-12 OVC) suffered their second loss of the Ohio Valley Conference Championships ending their 2025 season after a 4-3 loss against the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State (26-18, 17-9 OVC). The Lions ended the year with a 24-25 record and posted their most wins in OVC play with 14 earning the five seed this past week.

It was a slow start for both offenses as both starting pitchers tossed a scoreless first inning. SEMO scored the first run of the game off a Wapp after a home run to center field by Gracie Luna. The Lions posted just two hits through the first five innings of the game, both coming from Johanning. Throughout the weekend, Johanning went 7-9 with two doubles and two RBI.
After allowing the home run, Wapp settled down allowing just four hits leading into the seventh inning. McMinn came up huge for the Lions hitting her sixth home run of the season in the top of the sixth tying the game at 1-1. Lindenwood posted a home run in all three games this week in Peoria, Ill.
Going into the top of the seventh, the Lions matched their hit total for the game scoring two runs on three hits taking a 3-1 lead. After a single by
Dallis Darnell, Johanning brought Darnell home with an RBI double to left field. The play on the field was called out at home but after a challenge by head coach
Erin Brown, the runner was safe on the bobble by the catcher.
Johanning reached third in the next at-bat after a wild pitch, and was brought home by Pelton with an RBI single into left field as the Lions headed into the bottom of the seventh inning leading by two runs.
Wapp returned to the mound for the seventh inning recording an out to start. She allowed a double and single to put runners and second and first but followed that with a fly out to center field to give the Lions two outs. The Redhawks ended the game with three straight singles scoring three runs as the Redhawks advanced to take on the winner between Tennessee Tech and Southern Indiana tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. CT. The final hit went in between the left-fielder and shortstop allowing the game winner run to score.
