Lindenwood football running back Steve Hall earned another preseason honor on Tuesday, being named to the Walter Payton award Watch List as announced by Stats Perform on Tuesday. The Walter Payton Award is presented annually to the national offensive player of the year in FCS.

Hall was named the OVC-Big South Preseason Offensive Player of the Year earlier this month. The St. Louis, Mo. native had a breakout redshirt freshman season in 2024, rushing for 808 yards and five touchdowns, while averaging 7.3 yards per carry, which led the conference. During the year, he was tabbed conference Freshman of the Week four different times and earned FCS National Freshman of the Week accolades for his four-touchdown performance against Western Illinois where he also ran for 259 yards on the ground.

The 5-9 running back garnered high praise throughout the 2024 season, being named the Big South-OVC Offensive Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-Conference Member. Hall was also recognized as the conference Freshman of the Year by Phil Steele, an All-American by Football Central and was a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award.
