The Lions kept their undefeated record alive in 2025 as they took down Evansville on Thursday night by a score of 1-0. The Lions held the Purple Aces to just two shots in the first half as the game would remain scoreless at the break.
Quinn Closson would keep Evansville off the scoreboard early on in the second half with an incredible save. In the 47
th minute, Evansville was rewarded a free kick from just outside of the goal box and would send a cross pass that found an open Purple Ace Defender, who would send a header towards the top right corner of the goal. Closson would dive to his right and knock the ball over the net on a diving save to keep the game knotted at zero. Later on in the half,
Noah Sapsford would take a free kick for the Lions at the 59
th minute. Sapsford would send a perfect cross pass towards the box where
Leandro Haesler used his head to score the go-ahead game winning goal for his first goal as a Lion. Haesler beat the goalie to the top left corner of the goal as Lindenwood would improve to 4-0 on the season.
About St. Thomas
St. Thomas enters the contest with the Lions with a record of 2-0-2. The Tommies have defeated Chicago State and Utah Tech, with ties coming against Presbyterian and Depaul. St. Thomas's two top point scores consist of Midfielder Mathis Guffory and Forward Yanis Lakhlifi.
