On Monday, the OVC-Big South Football Association announced its Players of the Wee, which featured Rico Bond and Sanjay Strickland from the Lindenwood football team. Bond was tabbed the Freshman of the Week, while Strickland earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Bond had a career day against FBS Appalachian State on Saturday, hauling in seven catches for 102 yards and one touchdown. All of those numbers were career highs as the occasion marked his first touchdown and 100-yard game of his career. The St. Louis, Mo. native averaged 14.3 yards per reception on the day.

Strickland paced a Lindenwood defense that gave up just six points in the second half to App State. The redshirt senior linebacker compiled a career-high 13 tackles, while picking up an sack and forcing a fumble, which was one of three takeaways for the Lions in the game.

Bond, Strickland and the rest of the Lions will be back in action on Saturday taking on Charleston Southern at 3:00 p.m. CT in Charleston S.C.
