The Lindenwood women's basketball team (12-5, 4-2 OVC) heads to Cape Girardeau, Mo. for a matchup with Southeast Missouri State (5-10, 1-5 OVC) on Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.

The Lions will bring a three-game winning streak into the contest as they defeated Little Rock 71-43 last Saturday. The Black and Gold got off to a fast start and led 31-6 after the first quarter and never trailed in the game. This was the sixth victory this season in which the Lions never fell behind. Lindenwood held the Trojans to 28 percent shooting from the field and just five made field goals in the opening half.

The Black and Gold forced eight steals in the opening frame and 10 for the game. Overall, the Lions caused 17 Little Rock turnovers that led to 23 points. So far this season, Lindenwood is forcing 18.1 turnovers per game on the defensive end, while only turning it over 14.5 times per game offensively, the second lowest in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Lindenwood was balanced offensively with three individuals in double figures led by
Aleshia Jones who had 17 points. The Leavenworth, Kan. native picked up her first double double of the season, adding 11 rebounds and also had a pair of steals. Jones was joined by
Mya Skoff and
Ellie Brueggemann who had 11 points apiece in the win.

Brueggemann continues to be hot from deep after making three more shots from beyond the arc for the fourth-straight game on Saturday. So far this season, she has had 12 games in which she has made three or more from three-point range. Overall, the junior guard is shooting 47.4 percent from deep, the ninth-best percentage in the nation.

Valerie Norwood made a nice impact off the bench against the Trojans, scoring a season-high nine points, while grabbing four rebounds. The freshman guard has seen more playing time as of late, getting 20 or more minutes in four of the last five games.

Brooke Coffey earned weekly recognition, being named the OVC Player of the Week. The St. Charles, Mo. native averaged 18.5 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals per contest. She had a career-high 29 points in the win over SIUE on January 6.
