Women's Basketball Continues Road Swing at UT Martin

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (13-5, 5-2 OVC) brings a four-game winning streak into its matchup with UT Martin (8-8, 4-3 OVC on Saturday. Tip-off from Martin, Tenn. is set for 1:00 p.m.
 
The Lions are coming off a 78-66 road win over SEMO on Thursday in Cape Girardeau for its fourth-straight win. Aleshia Jones led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds, marking her fourth 20-point game of the season so far. 11 of those 23 points came in the final quarter as she helped put the game away. The Leavenworth, Kan. native now leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game.
 
The Black and Gold shot nearly 52 percent from the field in the win and have made 50 percent or more of its field goal attempts on six different occasions this season and are undefeated in those games. The Lions lead the OVC in field goal percentage, shooting 46.6 percent on the year. Brooke Coffey sits atop the conference, shooting 54.5 percent from the field
 
Lindenwood had three other players in double-figures during the win, including Coffey who picked up her fifth double double of the season and stuffed the stat sheet once again with 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. The junior guard is fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in rebounding, pulling down 7.9 per contest.
 
Coffey was a big reason why the Lions had the edge inside, getting 40 paint points to the Redhawks 28. Lindenwood also controlled the glass against SEMO. pulling down 33 rebounds to the Redhawks' 22.
 
Mya Skoff and Valerie Norwood also scored 10 or more points in the victory as both played a season-high in minutes with 37 and 31, respectively. Skoff finished the night with 13 points six assists, and five rebounds and made three shots from beyond the arc. Norwood chipped in a career-high 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field and added two assists and two rebounds. The freshman guard has played 20 or more minutes in five of the last six games and four straight.
 
After this game, Lindenwood will return home for two-straight, welcoming Tennessee State on January 22 and Tennessee Tech on January 24.
