MARTIN, TN. - The Lindenwood Men's Basketball team fell on the road at UT Martin on Saturday afternoon by a score of 69-55.
Dontrez Williams led the Lions with 20 points while
Anias Futrell added 10 points in the loss.
Lindenwood was held to 30.8% from the floor in the opening half, and had 22 points at the break. Williams had eight points to fuel the offense and both
Mekhi Cooper and
Clayton Jackson each had a three pointer in the first half as the Lions trailed 35-22 at the break. In the second half, UT Martin extended their lead to 17 points less than two minutes into the half, but the Lions cut the lead to eight with 14:54 left by using a 13-4 run thanks to seven points from Williams and two points each from
Jadis Jones,
Anias Futrell, and
Milos Nenadic. However, the Skyhawks went on a run later in the half to take the 69-55 victory.
The Lions were able to hold UT Martin to 69 points offensively this afternoon, which was the second fewest points allowed by LU in a conference game this season. The defense was able to force 17 UT Martin turnovers that led to just 10 points for the offense who shot 34% from the field for the game. Lindenwood will return to Hyland Arena next week as they will host Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State. Tip off on Thursday will be at 7:30 p.m. against the Golden Eagles of Tennessee Tech.
