Women's Hockey Defeats Delaware; Picks Up First Home Sweep Since 2024

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - Lindenwood Women's Hockey (8-16-2, 6-9-1 AHA) picked up their second straight win for the first time during the 2025-26 season as they took down Delaware by a final score of 6-3 on Saturday afternoon behind Tatiana Blichova's three goal performance. Zsofia Pazmandi added two goals and an assist, while Paige Cline added her third goal of the season to complete the sweep over the Blue Hens. With the win this afternoon, the Lions have swept a home series for the first time since January 19-20, 2024 when LU swept RIT at home in Taylor Wasylk's first year at the helm.

After a slow start, Lindenwood found the back of the net three times in a span of four minutes to grab a 3-0 lead in the first period. Tatiana Blichova started the scoring with Lucie Quarto and Tatem Starlight-Yellowfly assisting on the first goal of the game. A minute later, Zsofia Pazmandi scored on the power play after Blichova and Molly Henderson found Pazmandi in the middle of the ice all by herself to extend the lead to two with 10 minutes to go in the period. Blichova scored her second goal of the period two minutes later after Quarto fired a shot from the right blue line that created a rebound. On the rebound, Michaela Paulinyova found Blichova in the middle of the slot for the Lion's third goal of the period. Paige Cline added Lindenwood's fourth goal of the opening frame in the final minute via the power play as the Lions took a commanding 4-0 lead after 20 minutes of action.

Delaware got on the scoreboard via a power play goal at the 13:14 mark of the second period to cut the deficit to three, but less than two minutes later Delaware headed back to the power play and threatened to score again. Pazmandi was able to steal the puck at the top of the Delaware blue line and had a breakaway opportunity from the neutral zone on in. Pazmandi was able to beat the Blue Hen goaltender to the right post and gave the Lions their second four goal lead of the game at 5-1 with just over five minutes to play in the period. Delaware scored their second goal of the period on the power play a few minutes later as the Lions took a 5-2 lead into the second intermission. In the third period, the Blue Hens cut into the lead further on yet another power play goal at the 6:37 mark to make it a 5-3 contest. However, the Lions tightened up on defense and allowed two shots on goal for the remainder of the final frame. Blichova finished the scoring at the 18:22 mark to record her first career hat trick and sealed the 6-3 victory for the Lions.

Lindenwood recorded a season-high 52 shots on goal in the contest and gave up just 14 shots on goal. Blichova, Elina Zilliox, and Paulinyova all recorded eight shots on goal in the game, while Lexington Secreto made 11 stops to pick up her second straight win between the pipes. Lindenwood will now travel to Syracuse, N.Y. next weekend for two games against the Orange. Puck drop on Friday, January 23 will be at 3 p.m. CT.
