The Lindenwood women's basketball team (9-5, 1-2 OVC) looks to get back on track in a matchup with the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles (9-3, 3-0 OVC) on Saturday inside Hyland Arena. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

The Lions are coming off a tough 51-50 loss to Morehead State on Thursday. Lindenwood trailed for 38:38 in the game, including being down double-digits with five minutes to go in the fourth. However, the Black and Gold went on a 13-0 run to tie the game with three seconds left. A foul with .2 on the clock sent the Eagles to the line and they sealed the victory. Prior to this contest, Lindenwood was 7-0 in games that it allowed 50 points or less.

Lindenwood got back into the game by forcing turnovers on the defensive end. The ions have now caused 20 or more turnovers in three-straight games after forcing 20 against Morehead State, it only led to 16 Lindenwood points, however.

Ellie Brueggemann led the way with 15 points against the Eagles, her 11th double-figure scoring game of the season. 10 of those points came in the second half as she hit some big shots down the stretch to pull the Lions closer. The Owasso, Okla. native has eight games this season in which she has made at least three shots from beyond the arc in a game. Overall, Brueggemann is shooting 46.3 percent from deep, ranking top 20 in the country.

Aleshia Jones and
Brooke Coffey were the other Lions in double figures on Thursday with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Coffey and Jones are leading the Ohio Valley Conference in field goals percentage at 52.6 and 51.7 percent so far this season. Jones stuffed the stat sheet against Morehead State also adding five assists, four steals and three rebounds. Those four steals tied a season-high and she now has six games with three or more thefts this season.

After not losing a conference game at home last season, Lindenwood has dropped the first two inside Hyland Arena during the 2025-26 season, both by a combined 10 points. USI enters the matchup as the only team still unbeaten in OVC play.

The matchup against USI will end a three-game homestand. Dating back to the GLVC, the Screaming Eagles lead the all-time series 9-1, but the Lions won the last matchup, 75-56 in a game on ESPNU. After this game, Lindenwood heads to Edwardsville, Ill. to take on SIUE on January 6.
