Women's Basketball Welcomes Tennessee State on Saturday

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (14-6, 6-3 OVC) welcomes Tennessee State (3-15, 2-7 OVC) for a Saturday afternoon matchup inside Hyland Arena. Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m.
 
The Lions are coming off a 66-55 win over Tennessee Tech on Thursday. Aleshia Jones led the way with 32 points, which was two off her career-high that she set back in 2023 at Saginaw Valley State. The Leavenworth, Kan. native made five threes from beyond the arc and went 11-of 12 from the free throw line.
 
Overall, the Black and Gold converted on 95 percent of their attempts from the charity stripe, going 20-of-21. Gracie Kelsey made some big ones down the stretch, knocking down all six.  Kelsey finished the game with 10 points and three rebounds, scoring in double figures for the seventh time this season. On the year, Lindenwood is making 74.8 percent of its free-throws, the third best percentage in the conference.
 
Brooke Coffey was the other Lion in double figures, picking up her sixth double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds, which was one off her season-high. The St. Charles, Mo. native finished the game shooting 7-of-13 from the field and added two steals. Coffey is fifth in the OVC in rebounding, grabbing 7.9 per game.
 
In the win over the Golden Eagles, the Lions forced 20 turnovers that led to 26 points. Lindenwood had 10 steals in the contest, led by Aleshia Jones with three. The graduate guard is third in the Ohio Valley Conference, averaging 2.3 steals per game. Tennessee State turns the ball over 21.6 times per game, the most in the conference.
 
Lindenwood kept Tennessee Tech in check from beyond the arc, and the Golden Eagles made just 22 percent of their looks from deep, shooting 6-of-27. Overall, the Black and Gold are holding teams to 31.1 percent shooting from three-point range.
 
11 of Lindenwood's 14 wins have now come by double-digits. The Lions have the third best scoring margin in the Ohio Valley Conference at +12.5 per game. Following this contest, the Lions will hit the road for two against Southern Indiana and Morehead State.
