Women's Basketball Set to Face SIUE Tuesday

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (10-5, 2-2 OVC) heads to Edwardsville, Ill. for a matchup with SIUE on Tuesday. Tip-off from First Community Arena is set for 5:00 p.m.
 
The Lions are coming off one of their best wins of the season as they handed Southern Indiana its first conference loss of the year in a 75-65-win last Saturday. Mya Skoff and Ellie Brueggemann led the way with 19 points apiece. It was a season high in points for Skoff who scored 13 of her 19 points in the second half.
 
Brueggemann continues to be as consistent as they come in the OVC, scoring in double-figures for the 12th time this season. The Owasso, Okla. native poured in 12 of her 19 points during the opening half and finished the game shooting 8-of-13, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. The junior guard leads the OVC in field goal percentage at 52.8 percent. She also is atop the league in three-point percentage at 46.5 percent, which ranks 13th in the country.
 
Gracie Kelsey and Brooke Coffey were the other Lindenwood players in double figures against the Screaming Eagles. Kelsey recorded 12 points, while Coffey nearly had her fifth double double of the season with 10 points and nine rebounds. The St. Charles, Mo. native is fourth in the league in rebounding, averaging 7.8 boards per contest. Both were key in Lindenwood getting the edge in paint points, 36-34, marking only the third time this season in which USI has been edged in that category.
 
Lindenwood was stout defensively, holding Southern Indiana to 38.3 percent shooting from the field. The Black and Gold also won the points off turnovers battle, getting 18 to USI's 14. Overall, the Lions forced 17 Southern Indiana turnovers, while only committing 12. The Lions have a +3.53 turnover margin so far this season, ranking third in the OVC.
 
The Black and Gold scored over 70 points for the seventh time this season and currently average 72.7 points per game, which currently ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference. They also pace the OVC in field goal percentage at 45.8, three-point percentage (36.7), while ranking second in free-throw percentage at 74.7 percent.
 
Following this game, the Lions will return home for a matchup with Little Rock on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
