Women's Basketball Welcomes Little Rock on Saturday

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (11-5, 3-2 OVC) returns home to take on Little Rock (8-7, 4-1 OVC) on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. from Hyland Arena.
 
The Lions are coming off a dominant 84-65 win over SIUE on Tuesday where they shot 53 percent from the field and 47 percent from beyond the arc. The offensive effort was led by Brooke Coffey who had a career-high 29 points on 12-15 from the field. The 12 field goals are tied for the most in a game by an Ohio Valley Conference player this season. She also added nine rebounds and five assists to her stat line.
 
Coffey was a big reason the Lions dominated the paint, outscoring the Cougars, 42-26 on the night. The Black and Gold also had 14 second chance points in the victory. They also won the fast break points battle 9-2.
 
Ellie Brueggemann and Aleshia Jones also joined Coffey in double figures. Brueggemann finished the night with 19 points and made 7-12 shots from the field, including a trio of three-pointers. The Owasso, Okla. native has made at least three shots from three-point range in three-straight games and is shooting 47.3 percent from deep on the year. The junior guard scored her 1,000th career point in the first half, Jones concluded the game with 14 points and helped close out the game with 10 points in the fourth quarter.
 
Jones was a force on the defensive end, recording a season-high five steals. The Leavenworth, Kan. native is tied for third in the OVC with 2.4 steals per game. Overall, the Lions, finished the game with 14 thefts, their second-highest total of the season. The Black and Gold forced 23 turnovers against the Cougars that led to 30 points.
 
The Lions shared the ball against the Cougars, compiling 22 assists on 34 made field goals, The 22 helpers were the second-most in a game this season. Gracie Kelsey led the way six, her most in a game this season. Overall, Lindenwood averages 16.5 assists per game, tops in the OVC.
 
This was the fifth time this season in which the Lions have eclipsed the 80 point mark in a game and are unbeaten on such occasions. So far this season, the Lions are averaging 73.4 points per game, the second most in the OVC.
 
After this game, Lindenwood will hit the road for a pair of games, taking on SEMO on January 15 and UT Martin on January 17.

1000: Ellie Brueggemann recorded her 1,000th career point against SIUE, becoming the second fastest Lion to do so, accomplishing it in 78 games

47.1: Lindenwood shot 47.1 percent from deep against the Cougars (8-17). It was their highest three-point field goal percentage in a game this season

20: The Black and Gold forced 23 more turnovers on Tuesday and have caused 20 or more in four of the last five games
