ST. CHARLES, Mo. – A shorthanded goal in the 81st minute lifted the Lindenwood women's soccer team (6-6-2, 2-2-0) to a 1-0 win over Southern Indiana (2-8-5, 1-1-2) at Hunter Stadium on Thursday evening.
The Lions played the entire second half down a player after
Lizzie Conner was sent off with a red card for holding following a video review in the 43rd minute. Despite playing shorthanded, Lindenwood recorded one more shot than their opponent in the second frame while earning two more opportunities from the corner.
The Lions' relentless offensive pressure would finally pay off with less than ten minutes remaining in the match, beginning with a beautiful ball out the back from
Peyton Johnson that connected with
Mackenzie Compton on the left side. With room to roam, Compton carried the ball into the box before passing it off to an open
Tasneem Dizdarevic, who buried a close range shot in the back of the net for the game-winner.

Quotable
"I'm so proud of our team tonight. We faced some adversity and raised the level of our game. A lot of credit and respect to USI as they are a physical, tough team to play against. Our team was due for a gritty result like this as we've been performing well. Now all focus gets shifted towards Sunday at SEMO." –
Dave Musso, Lindenwood Head Coach
