The Lindenwood Women's Rugby team (5-3, 2-3 NIRA) came up just short on the road at Army on Saturday morning, falling by a final score of 12-5.

In the first half, Ella Elordi scored the opening try of the match in the 15th minute to give the Lions a 5-0 lead. Lindenwood's defense held strong over the next 15 minutes, denying the Black Knights several scoring opportunities. However, Army eventually took the lead in the 34th minute with a try and conversion to take a 7-5 advantage into halftime.

In the second half, the Lions had several opportunities to score and came close to reaching the try zone on multiple occasions, but Army's defense held firm to prevent Lindenwood from finding the equalizer. In the 70th minute, the Lions came up with a key defensive stop, but as Lindenwood attempted to flip the field, the Black Knights blocked a kick in the try zone and recovered the ball to extend their lead to 12-5.

Lindenwood will wrap up the regular season next weekend at home against Davenport University. Kickoff from the Lindenwood Track is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
