Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women's Hockey Snaps Losing Skid With 2-1 Victory Over RMU On Friday Afternoon

The Lindenwood Women's Hockey team (5-9-0, 2-6-0 AHA) snapped their seven game losing streak on Friday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over Robert Morris, earning their first home win of the 2026-27 season. The Lions scored once in both the first and second periods to secure the victory.

In the opening period, Grace Rentmeester scored her first goal of the season on a shot from the left corner at the 12:12 mark to give Lindenwood a 1-0 lead. Rhaea Flint helped create the scoring opportunity, firing a shot from the left slot that was turned away by the RMU goaltender. Rentmeester collected the rebound and sent the puck toward the net, where it eventually crossed the goal line. Eva Filippova stopped all nine Colonial shots in the first period to keep RMU off the scoreboard as the Lions carried a lead into the first intermission for the first time since September 24 at Merrimack College.

Less than 20 seconds into the second period, Lindenwood extended the lead to 2-0 after RMU turned the puck over in their defensive zone. Paige Cline intercepted a pass and found Michaela Paulinyova alone in the middle of the slot. Paulinyova fired a one-time slap shot past the Colonial goaltender to extend the Lions' advantage. Lindenwood's special teams unit continued to deliver, killing off three RMU power plays throughout the period. The Lions were outshot 22-8 in the middle frame, but Filippova stopped all 22 shots to send the game into the third period with Lindenwood holding a two goal lead.

RMU finally broke through early in the third period, scoring at the 2:28 mark to cut the deficit to one. However, the Lindenwood defense held firm, allowing just eight shots on goal over the final 17 minutes to secure the 2-1 victory and earned their second Atlantic Hockey America win of the season.

"I'm really proud of our group after the quick turnaround from last night." said head coach Max Gavin. "I thought there was better effort today and to see other people step up against a solid team was great to see. I'm happy with the result."

Lindenwood will remain at home next weekend to host the Syracuse Orange on November 6 and 7. The series opener is scheduled for Friday, November 6 at 4 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. puck drop on Saturday, November 7.
