Last Time Out

The Lindenwood Women's Hockey team wrapped up its six-game road trip last weekend with a split at Delaware in the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) opener. Michaela Paulinyova led the forwards with two points (1 G, 1 A), while Elina Zilliox led the Lindenwood blue liners with two assists. Freshman goaltender Ebba Ridderstolpe earned her second win of the season in Sunday's 3-1 victory over the Blue Hens, recording 13 saves behind a defense that allowed a season-best 14 shots on goal en route to the Lions' first AHA win of the season.

The Lions will return to Centene Community Ice Center for the first time since defeating No. 6 Robert Morris 3-1 in the 2026 AHA Tournament Quarterfinals. The victory marked Lindenwood's first playoff win since March 2, 2017, and the first home playoff win in program history.

The matchup between Mercyhurst and Lindenwood will be a rematch of the 2026 AHA Tournament Semifinals. The Lakers swept the Lions in the series, with Game Two being decided in double overtime.

Lion's Storylines

  • Elina Zilliox has recorded a point in all but one game this season and leads the Lions with six total points (1 G, 5 A).
  • Through six games, Lindenwood leads the AHA in goals scored (19), overall wins (four), penalty kill percentage (100%), faceoff win percentage (56.9%), and points per game (8.83).
  • The freshman class has accounted for 18 of Lindenwood's 53 points this season, representing 34% of the team's total points.

About Mercyhurst

  • Mercyhurst enters the matchup with a 3-3-0 record and opened AHA play last weekend with a split against Syracuse. Freshman forward Mariia Polozkova was named the AHA Rookie of the Week after scoring two goals and adding an assist in the Lakers' 5-2 win over the Orange last Saturday.
  • Mercyhurst has advanced to the AHA Tournament Championship Series in each of the last five seasons.
  • The Lakers are led offensively by Polozkova, who has six points through six games (3 G, 3 A). In net, junior goaltender Magdalena Luggin has started all six games this season, recording 145 saves with a 1.68 goals-against average and one shutout.

The Lions will be back on the road for another conference series. The Black and Gold will head to Penn State next weekend for a two game series against #4 Penn State. Puck drop from University Park is set for 1 PM CT on Friday, October 16.
