Women's Hockey Sweeps Robert Morris; Will Host AHA Playoff Game Next Weekend

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA. - The Lindenwood Women's Hockey team (13-19-2, 11-12-2 AHA) picked up their first road sweep of the season on Saturday afternoon with an 8-5 win over Robert Morris. The eight goals scored was the most goals scored by Lindenwood in a single game this season as Hannah Dods, Molly Henderson, and Zsofia Pazmandi all lit the lamp twice in the victory over the Colonials.

RMU opened the scoring at the 3:28 mark of the first period to immediately take a 1-0 lead, but Lindenwood responded in the middle of the period behind Grace Rentmeester's first career goal thanks to assists from Josey Dunne-Weeks and Maegan Cronan. A few minutes later, Hannah Dods scored a power play goal behind assists from Ellie Muscedere and Paige Cline to give Lindenwood a 2-1 lead with just over seven minutes to play in the first period. However, the Colonials would even the score at two less than a minute later and the score would remain the same for the remainder of the period. Lindenwood outshot Robert Morris 9-8 in the opening period and were led by Cline and Rentmeester who each had two shots in the opening 20 minutes of play.

In the second period, the Colonials scored two goals in a span of three minutes and took a 4-2 lead halfway through the period. The Lions once again responded to the adversity as Dods scored her second goal of the game at the 11:58 mark to cut the deficit to 4-3 behind assists from Rentmeester and Muscedere. Madison Bowtell kept RMU off the scoreboard for the rest of the second frame by stopping all six shots she faced over the final ten minutes of the period to keep Lindenwood in the contest as they trailed by one entering the third.

Less than two minutes into the final frame, Lindenwood evened the score at four as Molly Henderson found the back of the net while short handed which would spark a five goal outburst for the Lions. Four minutes after Henderson tied the game, Zsofia Pazmandi gave Lindenwood it's second lead of the contest with just under 15 minutes to go, but RMU wouldn't go down quietly as they tied the game a minute later to make it 5-5. The Lions finally took the lead for good at the 8:03 mark after Henderson scored her second goal of the period, and Pazmandi added on to the lead five minutes later by also scoring her second goal of the third period to give Lindenwood it's biggest lead of the game at 7-5 with 6:25 to play. Tatiana Blichova extended the Lions lead to three a few minutes later and Lindenwood hung on to complete their first road sweep of the season by a final score of 8-5. Pazmandi finished the contest with seven shots on goal to lead the Lions, while Blichova added six of her own. Madison Bowtell made 19 saves and allowed just one goal over the last 29:50 of the game to pick up her fourth win of the 2025-26 season.

With the victory, the Lions clinched the number three seed in the AHA playoffs and will be hosting the winner of Robert Morris and Delaware next Saturday at Centene Community Ice Center.
