COOKEVILLE, TN. - The Lindenwood Men's Basketball team fell on Saturday afternoon at Tennessee Tech by a score of 72-57.
Mekhi Cooper scored 15 points in the contest against the Golden Eagles to lead the Lions offensively.
Dontrez Williams chipped in 13 points and
Anias Futrell added 11 in the loss.
The first half was close throughout as TTU held a two point advantage at the break. The Lions led by as many as three points in the opening half, taking several different leads with the last one coming by a score of 23-20 after Williams made two free throws with 8:30 to go. Tennessee Tech would go on a 7-1 run over the next four minutes and took a 31-29 lead into the locker room after Williams briefly tied the game with a three pointer with 31 seconds to go.
Mekhi Cooper buried three three pointers in the first half while Williams knocked down two and led the Lions with 10 first half points.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles opened up a seven point lead early into the half and the Lions were never able to grab the lead for the remainder of the half. Lindenwood cut the lead down to one after
Anias Futrell converted on a free throw to make it 46-45 with 10:28 to go, but the Golden Eagles went on a run and opened up a 13 point lead and went on to defeat the Lions by a final score of 72-57.
Lindenwood will host Eastern Illinois on Thursday in their final home game of the regular season on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
