For the fifth time this season, Aleshia Jones of the Lindenwood women's basketball team has earned Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week recognition as announced on Tuesday.

Jones led her team to two wins this past week over Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech, respectively. The graduate guard averaged 17 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

Against Tennessee State, Jones poured in 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting and grabbed six rebounds. In the victory over the Golden Eagles, Jones finished with 18 points, three rebounds, and two steals on 7-of-10 from the field. 10 of her 18 points came in the second quarter on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting.

So far this season, Jones has averaged 15.2 points per game, which ranks fifth in the OVC. She has scored in double figures 23 times, while having seven 20-point games, and one 30-point effort.

Jones and the rest of the Lions will be back in action on Thursday taking on Eastern Illinois inside Hyland Arena. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
