The Lindenwood Women's Hockey team swept RIT last weekend by scores of 6-2 and 5-1 to continue their hot streak. With the sweep over the Tigers, the Lions jumped into third place in the AHA standings with four regular season games to go after winning five of their last six games, including back-to-back home sweeps at Centene Community Ice Center over Delaware and RIT.

Ellie Muscedere, and
Lexington Secreto were all named the AHA players of the Week for their respective performances in the series against RIT. Henderson (2 G, 4 A) and Muscedere (1 G, 5 A) each recorded six points across two games in victories over the Tigers while Secreto went 2-0-0 on the weekend and made 55 saves to go along with a GAA of 1.50. The Lions have now had six different players earn an AHA honor this season and took home three of the four AHA honors for the week.
Paige Cline picked up a point in both games against RIT to extend her point streak to six consecutive games. The Sophomore skater from Chesterfield, MI has scored four goals and added four assists during her point streak and ranks tied for second on the team during that stretch trailing only Henderson who has 14 points across her last six games. Henderson was also named the AHA Forward of the Month as the Senior scored seven goals and dished out seven assists over the month of January in eight games played.
About Penn State
Penn State clinched their fourth straight AHA regular season championship a few weeks ago and are currently 19-1-0 in the AHA this season. Their lone loss in conference play happened on the road at Merychurst in Overtime by a score of 4-3. The Nittany Lions enter the matchup with the Lions ranked fourth in the nation with an overall record of 26-4-0 and are third in the country in goals scored with 130. Senior goaltender Katie DeSa leads the nation in shutouts with nine and ranks first in the AHA in GAA (1.24) and save percentage (.934). DeSa's .934 save percentage ranks in the top 15 nationally. Offensively, Penn State leads the AHA in several categories including points (331), shots on goal (1186), short handed goals (8), shot percentage (.110), and face off winning percentage (.569).Â
The Nittany Lions swept Lindenwood earlier in the season at Penn State by scores of 6-1 and 5-0.
Michaela Paulinyova scored the lone goal for the Lions in that series via a short handed goal to grab a first period lead in the series opener. The Lions will attempt to beat Penn State for the first time in almost eight years with their last victory over Penn State happening on February 23, 2018 by a score of 1-0.Â
