Baseball Concludes Homestand with 10-4 Win over Mizzou

Lions pick up their second win over a power conference opponent this season

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lindenwood baseball team (11-13, 0-3 OVC) closed out their nine-game homestand with a dominant 10-4 victory over Missouri (17-9, 1-5 SEC) at the Lou Brock Sports Complex on Friday night. After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the Lions shutout the Tigers for the next six innings while scoring nine unanswered runs to build a comfortable advantage.

The Lindenwood bats collected nine hits, with Will Geary, Jake Radosevich, and Tanner Simpson each registering two knocks. Radosevich also drove in a pair of runs to match Tyler Ellis for the team lead in the contest.

Five Lions saw action on the mound, headlined by Tanner Paschke, who allowed just one hit and no runs with a pair of strikeouts through 3.2 innings of relief work to pick up his first win of the season.

How it Happened
Missouri came out swinging and quickly loaded the bases with one out following a pair of base hits and a walk to begin the game. Cameron Benson put the Tigers ahead with a two-RBI single before Blaize Ward was hit by a pitch to load the bases again, but Lindenwood was able to prevent anymore runs from scoring with a ground ball double play.

Lindenwood tied the game in the second inning, with Tanner Simpson doubling to score Kam Edwards from second before a Sam Driscoll single to right center allowed Simpson to score the equalizer. The Lions would go ahead in the bottom of the third with Charlie Isom-McCall singling and stealing second before coming home to score on a Jake Radosevich RBI base hit.

Following a scoreless fourth, Lindenwood tacked on two more runs in the fifth, as the Lions moved two runners into scoring position with two outs before a throwing error on a fielder's choice to the first basement allowed Charlie Isom-McCall to reach home safely. The Lions would add their second run of the frame with a Kam Edwards sacrifice fly to center field that scored Will Geary.

Lindenwood really broke the game open in the seventh, scoring four runs beginning with a Jake Radosevich RBI double to left field that allowed Geary to hustle all the way home from first base. After moving to third on a sacrifice bunt, Radosevich scored on a wild pitch while Kam Edwards moved to third following a walk and a stolen base.

Tyler Ellis put an exclamation point on the inning, taking one deep to left field for a two-run homer to make the score 9-2 in favor of the Lions.

Mizzou was able to scratch a couple of runs across in the top of the eighth and were threatening to score more with runners on second and third with two away. However, Aaron Jungers entered the game for LU and retired all four Tigers he faced – including three by strikeout – to close the game and secure the win Lindenwood.
