Softball Shuts Out Southern Indiana To Pick Up Third OVC Win Of The Season

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lindenwood Softball team (14-18, 3-7 OVC) shut out Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon behind Samantha Roulanaitis's second straight complete game. The Sophomore allowed three hits and zero earned runs in the contest with the Screaming Eagles, while striking out one to improve her pitching record to 3-0 on the season.

Lindenwood had nine hits in the game with Anna Sanders, Sadie Sexauer, and Kylee Crowder all having two hits each to lead the Lions offensively in the series opener. Sanders had two doubles and picked up her first double of the game in the bottom of the first inning, but was unable to be brought in as the score remained tied at zero after one inning of play. Roulanaitis didn't allow a single base runner in the second, third, and fourth innings as she retired all nine Southern Indiana hitters that she faced. The Lions used the momentum generated from the circle in the bottom of the fourth as Emily Geary was hit by a pitch with two outs and Crowder drew a walk the following at bat to put baserunners at first and second base. Sexauer then delivered her first hit of the afternoon with a single up the middle to load the bases, but the Lions were unable to bring in a run as USI was able to escape the bases-loaded jam to keep Lindenwood off the scoreboard in the fourth inning.

With Roulanaitis having a no-no through four innings, the Screaming Eagles broke up the no-hitter as Kate Satkoski and Alyssa Mumaw recorded back-to-back two-out singles, but Roulanaitis was able to limit the damage and escape the inning with no runs allowed. The two runs for the Lions finally came in the bottom of the sixth inning to put Lindenwood ahead for good. Jolie McMinn led off the inning with a single to right field and was pinch ran for by Stella True. True advanced to second the next at-bat thanks to a sacrifice bunt put down by Emily Geary. Crowder followed the sac bunt with her second hit of the game to put runners on the corners, and was able to move up to second base on a stolen base. Sexauer delivered the game-winning hit as she singled to centerfield following Crowder's at bat to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.

USI would get a leadoff double from Sydney Long in the top of the seventh, but Roulanaitis retired the next three batters to help Lindenwood win their third OVC game of the 2026 season. The final out recorded was the biggest play of the game as shortstop Madisen Noll made a leaping catch as she was falling backwards to record the final out for the Lions.

Lindenwood will finish the series with the Screaming Eagles tomorrow with a doubleheader scheudled to start at 12 p.m. CT. Both games of the doubleheader will be streamed on ESPN+.
