MARTIN, Tenn. – The Lindenwood baseball team (11-16, 0-6 OVC) fell 15-7 in their series finale at UT Martin (14-13, 3-3 OVC) on Sunday afternoon.
Mathew Graf had a big day at the plate, going 4-5 with a double and an RBI.
Jake Radosevich also recorded multiple hits, going 2-4 with two runs scored.
How it Happened
Lindenwood took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after back-to-back two out base hits by
Jake Radosevich and
Will Geary allowed a third consecutive single by
Kam Edwards to score Radosevich from second. However, a TJ Grines leadoff homer in the bottom of the first tied the game.
Lindenwood had runners on second and third with no outs in the top of the second but were unable to score. UT martin subsequently loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the frame before a fielding error on a ground ball allowed a run to score and extended the inning. The error would prove to be even more costly after a bases clearing double by Colten Payton gave the Skyhawks a 5-1 lead.
The Lions loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the third, but were again unable to capitalize, running their runners left on base total to seven through the first three frames. The Skyhawks then added four more runs in the bottom of the frame with a two-RBI base hit by Andrew Lawrence followed by a Grines two-run homer to make the score 9-1.
The Skyhawks would pour on five more runs in the fifth in with five hits in the frame, including three for extra bases, before tacking on one more in the sixth. The Lions were able to plate five runs in the seventh to avoid the run-rule, with
Mathew Graf,
Tyler Ellis,
Tanner Simpson, and
Charlie Isom-McCall all recording RBIs in the inning , but were unable to manufacture anymore runs in the final two innings.
