Women's Tennis Picks Up 4-3 Win Over Saint Louis On Senior Day

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Lindenwood Women's Tennis team (7-7, 3-2 OVC) ended their regular season with a 4-3 win over Saint Louis on Sunday afternoon behind four big singles victories at the number three through six spots to clinch their seventh victory of the 2026 season and entering the OVC Tournament with a win. 

In doubles play, the Billikens took the point by winning at the number one and three spots with a 6-2 victory at the number one spot and taking the 1-0 lead with a 6-4 win at the number three spot. However, Megan Caffin, Mathilde Humbert, and Sofija Dunisijevic picked up singles wins in straight sets to give Lindenwood a 3-1 lead. At the number six spot, Humbert cruised to her seventh singles win of the season with a 6-0, 6-2 victory while Caffin picked up her eighth singles win on the 2026 campaign with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the number three spot. Dunisijevic, a graduate student, was one of the two Seniors who were honored today for Senior day and ended her regular season career at Lindenwood with a 6-3, 6-3 straight set victory at the number five spot. 

The clinching point of the match for the Lions happened at the number four spot where Paola Garcia had to rally after dropping the first set and was able to take down SLU's Nicolly Ferreira in three sets by a score of 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. At the number one spot, Fabiana Labrador also battled in three sets and rallied after dropping the first set by a score of 7-6 (6-4) to SLU's Emmerson White. Labrador took the second set 6-3, but ultimately was defeated in the third set by a score of 10-5. The other Senior who was honored, Michelle Trochez,  went to three sets with her opponent as well, but was defeated by a score of 6-1, 4-6, 1-6.  

The Lions will now prepare for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament which starts on Friday, April 17. The time and opponent is currently TBA.
