ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lindenwood Women's Tennis team (8-8, 3-2 OVC) saw their season come to an end on Saturday morning with a 4-0 loss to SIUE in the OVC Tournament Semifinal Round. Despite the loss, the Lions set a record for their most wins (8) in a single season in the Division I Era.
The Cougars started off the match by winning the doubles point with a 6-1 win at the two spot and 6-3 win at the three spot to grab an early 1-0 lead. SIUE would then take singles points at the number six and five spots to extend their lead to 3-0 as SIUE's Cydney Rogers defeated
Mathilde Humbert by a score of 6-1, 6-1 and Paloma Hennicaux won 6-3, 6-2 over
Sofija Dunisijevic. The clinching point for the Cougars happened at the number two spot where Elena Palioura won 6-4, 6-2 over
Michelle Trochez to send the number one seed to the OVC Tournament Championship match and ending Lindenwood's season with an overall record of 8-8.
In the unfinished matches,
Fabiana Labrador won her first set at the number one spot by a score of 7-6 (7-2), and
Paola Garcia was about to force a third set with the second set tied 6-6 after she dropped the opening set 1-6. The Lions will return to action in the fall of 2026 with a core of their roster returning and will look to improve on a successful 2025-26 season.
