Baseball Drops Game Two against Southeast Missouri

Offense sputters as Redhawks even series

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lindenwood baseball team (13-17, 1-7 OVC) suffered an 8-0 shutout loss against Southeast Missouri (22-9, 6-2 OVC) on Friday evening. The Lions totaled just three hits while committing four errors in the contest.

Seth Benes got tagged with the loss despite a solid five inning outing in which he allowed just a pair of earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

Offensively, Jake Radosevich, Will Geary, and William Zareh were the only Lions to reach base, recording one hit apiece.

How it Happened
In the top of the first, Caleb Klein was walked to lead off the game before stealing second and advancing to third on a wild pitch. Ryan Lopetegui would then drive in the opening run with an infield RBI single.
The Redhawks would add another in the second with Brooks Kettering taking a free base before moving into scoring position on a throwing error by the pitcher on a failed pickoff attempt. After a flyout, Anthony Ramirez delivered a two-out base hit to bring Kettering home.

After scoreless frames in the third and fourth, two Lindenwood errors led to a pair of unearned runs for SEMO in the top of the fifth, extending their advantage to 4-0.

The LU offense continued to sputter for the remainder of the game, with a William Zareh single in the eighth inning standing as the Lions' only base runner after the first inning.

Meanwhile, SEMO added to their lead with a Cal Sullivan two-out RBI double in the sixth before tacking on a trio of insurance runs in the top of the ninth to break the game wide open.
