Lacrosse Falls in ASUN Semifinal to Delaware

The Lindenwood lacrosse team (8-11, 4-4 ASUN) saw its season come to an end with a 10-4 loss to Delaware (13-4, 8-0 ASUN) in the ASUN Tournament Semifinals on Thursday in Jacksonville, Fla.

GAME OVERVIEW
Delaware got the scoring started five minutes into the game and went up by a pair. Lindenwood cut the deficit in half as Alissa DiGiacinto found Tatum Bryant who made the score 2-1 at the media timeout. The Blue Hens added two more before the end of the quarter and led 4-1 after one. `

Lindenwood struck first in the second when Selander found the back of the net just over a minute in. A few minutes later, DiGiacinto converted a free-position opportunity, cutting the deficit to one at 4-3. The Blue Hens grew the advantage back to two at the 2:39 mark of the second. With under a minute to play in the half, Reese Krieger caused a turnover that was scooped up by Selander, and she got the Lions back within one before the break. Taylor Coughlin compiled five saves in the opening half.

The defensive battle continued throughout the third quarter with Lindenwood being limited to just two shots in the period. Delaware scored the only two goals during the frame and led 7-4 after three.

Delaware netted the lone three goals in the fourth as Lindenwood was unable to close the gap and fell 10-4 in the semifinal.
