Baseball Drops Series Finale Against Tennessee Tech

Lions fall 4-3 in final home game of 2026 season

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lindenwood baseball team (28-23, 12-12) dropped their series finale against Tennessee Tech (18-34, 6-18 OVC) by a score of 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Lions struggled to get the bats going, managing just five hits in the contest.

Sam Driscoll led the Lindenwood offense with two hits in four at-bats, including a home run.

Lucas Niemeyer (2-3) was tagged with the loss after giving up three runs on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts, while Ethan Smith gave up one run on only two hits with a strikeouts through the game's final 2.1 innings.

How it Happened
Following a Landon Smelser base hit to leadoff the game, Tennessee Tech took an early lead with an Owen Lee two-run homer to right field. The Golden Eagles would add another run to their lead in the top of the fourth with Manny Garza doubling to lead off the frame before scoring on Eddie Garza sacrifice fly later in the inning.

Lindenwood found their way into the scoring column in the bottom of the sixth, with Kam Edwards singling with one out before stealing second and moving to third on an error before coming home on a Jake Radosevich sacrifice fly.

The Golden Eagles put runners on the corners with one out in the top of the seventh, but Ethan Smith took the mound and recorded a strikeout before a groundout ended the inning with no runs across. However, the Lions were sat down in order in the home before Owen Lee homered for the second time in the contest to give TTU a 4-1 lead in the top of the eighth.

A Matt Graf single and Charlie Isom-McCall walk to leadoff the bottom of the eighth followed by a sacrifice bunt by Kam Edwards put runners on second and third with on away for Lindenwood, but the Lions were only able to plate one run following back-to-back groundouts.

Sam Driscoll cut the lead to one with a solo homer to center field in the bottom of the ninth, but following a Tyler Ellis base hit to bring the winning run to the plate, the rally fell short after a 5-4-3 double play ended the game.

Next Up
The Lions head to the Hoosier State this week to conclude the regular season, facing Indiana State on 5:30 p.m. CT on Tuesday before concluding OVC play at Southern Indiana. Game one against the Screaming Eagles in scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14th.
