BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Lindenwood Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics
Jason Coomer has been selected to serve as the next Chair of the Council of Directors of Athletics for the Ohio Valley Conference. The selection was announced at the league's annual Spring Meetings, which were held in Franklin, Tennessee May 27-29.
"I am honored and excited to serve as Chair of the Ohio Valley Conference Council of Directors of Athletics next year", stated Coomer. "The OVC has tremendous momentum, and I look forward to working alongside my fellow athletic directors and conference leadership to continue building on that success."
Joining him on the new leadership team is Southern Indiana President Steven J. Bridges, who will chair the Board of Presidents. Bridges replaces Lindenwood President Dr. John Porter, who concluded his term as chair this spring.
This year's Spring Meetings were the first under OVC Commissioner Matt Wilson who began his duties on May 18, helping the membership set the table for the next iteration of the OVC.
"These meetings reinforced that the Ohio Valley Conference is united by a shared vision and a strong sense of alignment," said Wilson. "The enthusiasm, collaboration, and forward-thinking mindset demonstrated by our institutional leaders will power our future. As I begin my tenure as commissioner, I am energized by the opportunity to partner with our membership, listen to their ideas, and help shape a future that values the student-athlete experience, strengthens our institutions, and positions the OVC for sustained impact across the collegiate athletics landscape."
Lindenwood just completed its fourth season as a member of the OVC, winning a total of three regular season and tournament championships, which was tied for third most in the league.
