Women's Soccer Falls 1-0 Against Illinois State

St. Charles, Mo. – The Lindenwood women's soccer team (1-2-0) suffered a tough 1-0 defeat against Illinois State (2-0-0) at Hunter Stadium on Thursday afternoon. The Lions attempted more shots and created a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks but were ultimately unable to find their way into the scoring column.

The game-winning goal came in the 19th minute, with Illinois State's Rylann Law finding enough space at the top right corner of the box to slide a shot past a diving Caroline Ritter and inside the far post to put the Redbirds ahead 1-0.

The Lions controlled much of the possession and outshot their opponent 4-2 in the second half, including a pair of shots on goal, but were unable to find an equalizer.

Anna Johnson, Addie Wilkie, and Mackenzie Compton all recorded two shots to lead Lindenwood, with Johnson and Wilkie being responsible for the Lions' two attempts on goal.

Compton's two attempts brought her career total to 151 shots, which is the most by a Lindenwood player in the NCAA era (since 2011).
