The Lindenwood football team (1-2, 1-0 OVC) dropped its game at FBS Missouri State (1-1, 0-0 CUSA) by a score of 48-14 on Saturday night in Springfield, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
Missouri State scored on its opening possession with the help of a key third and fourth down conversion and took an early 7-0 lead. Lindenwood's first series was extended in part to multiple penalties by the Bears but the Lions missed a field goal and still trailed by a touchdown with 4:35 remaining in the first quarter. The Bears found the end zone again before the end of the frame and took a 14-0 advantage into the second.
MSU extended its lead to 27-0 with a pair of scores early in the middle frame. Â They would go on to score one more time and lead 34-0 at the break.
The Bears got the scoring started with a touchdown in the third. Lindenwood finally got on the board with just under five minutes to go in the quarter. On fourth down,
Pops Battle connected with
Drew Krobath from 15 yards out making the score 41-7. The Bears led 48-7 after three.
Lindenwood began the fourth by finishing off a six-play 75 yard drive that began with a few big runs by
Noah Triplett and Battle. On a first down play, Battle threw a dart to
Elijah Roy who hauled in his first career touchdown pass, making the score 48-14 which would be the final.

Following a bye week, Lindenwood will take on its second consecutive FBS opponent when they face Eastern Michigan September 26 in Ypsilanti. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. CT.
