MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Lindenwood women's volleyball team (12-2, 2-0 OVC) posted their seventh straight win with another dominant 3-0 victory over Morehead State (4-8, 0-2 OVC) on Saturday afternoon. The victory was the last of 14 consecutive road contests to begin the season for LU.
The Lions trailed 15-13 in the opening set, but after surging ahead with a quick 3-0 run following the media timeout, they would not trail again in the frame in route to a 25-21 win.
Susanna Beretti powered the Lindenwood offense with six kills in the set.
The Lions came out strong in set two, pouncing out to an 11-3 lead and keeping the Eagles at arm's length for the remainder of the frame as they took a 25-19 win to gain a 2-0 advantage in the match. Beretti stayed hot, adding five more kills to her total.
Lindenwood left no room for doubt in set three, rattling off 12 unanswered points after Morehead had tied to score at 10 apiece. The Lions extended their lead to as many as 13 points before claiming a 25-14 victory to complete the weekend sweep.
Susanna Beretti added four more kills in the final frame, bringing her total to a team-high 15 (5.00 KPS) on a .314 hitting percentage.
Ashley Geluck also scored in double digits, registering eight kills on a team-high .583 hitting percentage while adding five blocks.
Autumn Bax matched Geluck with a team-high five rejections while also posting seven kills.
As a team, Lindenwood recorded a .294 hitting percentage as
Kaci Johnson dished out 32 assists for an average of 10.67 assists per set.
Dana Grib anchored the LU back row with 15 digs, averaging five digs per set. It was Grib's fifth consecutive outing with 10 or more digs.
