Ashley Geluck and
Kaci Johnson have both earned Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honors following their performances at the NIU Invitational over the weekend, where they both landed on the All-Tournament Team.
Geluck was named Defensive Player of the Week after recording 12 total blocks over three matches for an average of 1.20 blocks per set. She registered three or more rejections while averaging at least 1.00 blocks per set in each of the Lions' contests, including five blocks with three solo efforts against Murray State followed by a four-block (1.33 BPS) performance against NIU.
Johnson was named Setter of the Week after helping the Lions to a team hitting percentage of .330. She did a fantastic job of spreading out the offense to the Lions' various hitters, collecting 112 total assists for an average of 11.20 assists per set. She averaged 10 or more APS in each match while recording no fewer than 30 assists, matching her season-high with 49 helpers (12.25 APS) in Lindenwood's 3-1 win over Murray State on Friday. As a team, LU hit .303 or better in every contest. Johnson also registered five service aces – including four in one match against Portland State – and posted a pair of double-doubles with 11 digs against Murray and 12 scoopers against Northern Illinois.
Lindenwood went 3-0 at the NIU Invitational to move their overall record to 5-1. The Lions travel to Champaign on Wednesday to battle Illinois at 7:00 p.m. before heading to Normal for the Linda Herman Volleyball Classic at ISU, where they will face Purdue Fort Wayne at 2:00 p.m. on Friday followed by Illinois State at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
