Rethink What You Think About Lindenwood University

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR NEW INCOMING STUDENT-ATHLETES

COMPLIANCE

I signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to come to Lindenwood. Is it still valid?
  • Yes. Your NLI is still binding. Both Lindenwood and you will need to honor the requirements.
  • If you choose to not come to Lindenwood, we will release you from your NLI. Contact the compliance office for instructions on how to request a release.
  • Please speak with your coach to discuss your situation.
I signed an Athletic Financial Aid Agreement. Is it still valid?
  • Yes. Lindenwood will still honor your signed offer of athletic financial aid.
  • However, there is nothing binding you to attend Lindenwood
  • Please speak with your coach to discuss your situation.
I signed an Institutional Letter of Intent to come to Lindenwood. Is it still valid?
  • Unlike an NLI, an Institutional Letter of Intent is not a binding agreement. However, our goal is to still try and provide you an opportunity to participate in your sport.
  • In some cases NCAA Division I sports have a roster size limitation so opportunities may be limited.
  • Please reach out directly to your coach to discuss your circumstances.
Initial eligibility requirements for NCAA Division II are different to NCAA Division I, will I still be eligible as an incoming athlete?
  • Hopefully, yes. The compliance office did initial evaluations of all incoming athletes for Division II eligibility. Any concerns were raised based off the Division II requirements.
  • The compliance office will now do evaluations based off Division I requirements and look for any possible issues there.
  • Any Division I issues will be addressed as soon as possible.
  • Due to the timeframe, any discrepancies may not have the opportunity to be resolved. The compliance office will work with the athlete and the NCAA to try to ensure initial eligibility is secured for the Fall 22 semester.
Who should I talk if I have additional compliance questions?   How do I become a Lindenwood Lion?
