Nathan Beuster is entering his sixth season in 2017 as a full-time assistant coach with the Lions, and his tenth overall season as a collegiate baseball coach. Beuster serves as Lindenwood's pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
Last season, Beuster’s staff improved to sixth in the MIAA in ERA, and it was second in the league with a .270 opponent batting average. Lindenwood allowed the fewest home runs in the league and the third-fewest doubles. Three pitchers earned all-MIAA honors, including second-team all-conference accolades for Connor Law. Geoff Hartlieb was selected in the Major League Baseball draft for the second year in a row.
Beuster helped Lindenwood rank eighth in the MIAA in ERA for the 2015 season, and it was sixth with a .294 opposing batting average. Beuster’s staff allowed the second-fewest home runs in the MIAA. Pitcher Brendan Kleekamp was named an honorable mention all-MIAA selection, and pitchers Matt Meier and Hartlieb were selected in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.
Lindenwood ranked ninth in the MIAA in ERA in 2014 and were among the top pitching staffs in the conference in allowing walks. The Lions led the conference with their pitchers picking off 13 runners, and were also in the top-five in fewest home runs allowed.
In 2013, in Lindenwood’s first year in the MIAA, the Lions finished sixth out of 15 teams in ERA and opponent’s batting average. The Lions’ pitcher led the conference in pickoffs as the staff picked off 15 runners for the second straight year. Dylan Terrell and Zac Pearman both tied for sixth in the MIAA in wins, and Terrell was also in the top-10 in ERA and top-15 in strikeouts. Terrell and Austin Klein both finished the season with under a 4.00 ERA.
In his first year as the pitching coach for the Lions in 2012, Beuster helped guide a young pitching staff to 30 wins. His pitchers threw six shutouts, averaged 2.7 walks per nine innings, and two pitchers received first-team All–Independents College Athletic Association (ICAA).
Prior to coaching at Lindenwood, Beuster spent two seasons as the pitching coach at Bryan College. Beuster helped the program grow by 25 wins over his two seasons. During his stint at Bryan College, his two pitching staffs set school records in wins, fewest runs allowed, ERA, innings pitched, strikeouts, and opponent’s batting average.
Beuster began his coaching career at Lindenwood as a graduate assistant pitching coach in 2008 and 2009. He helped guide the team to back-to-back regular season and post-season HAAC Championships, and Lindenwood had an 85-34-1 record for those two years. Beuster oversaw seven athletes who received all-conference honors and coached the 2009 HAAC Pitcher of the Year.
Before coaching and receiving his masters from Lindenwood, Beuster attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., where he pitched for four years. While there, he helped Culver-Stockton to two regular season conference championships and a super-regional appearance in 2006. Beuster graduated with his undergraduate degree from Culver-Stockton in December of 2007.
Beuster is originally from Geneseo, Ill, where he graduated from J.D. Darnall High School. He and his wife, Emily, got married in June of 2009 and currently reside in St. Charles, Mo.
