Lindenwood:
Career- Has appeared in 28 games, and started 18 contests, through the 2015 season … has recorded 180 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.
 
2015- Started the first eight games of the season … named the team’s Special Teams Player of the Week against Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri, and won the team’s Iron Man Award for the Emporia State contest … ranked second on the team with 7.5 tackles a game … finished fifth on the team overall with 80 tackles, and also had 2.0 tackles for loss and one pass breakup … had two games with double-figure tackles as he recorded 14 against both Fort Hays State and Emporia State … also had season-highs of seven solo tackles in those two games … had 1.5 tackles for loss versus Emporia State … recorded his pass breakup against Pittsburg State … had a key third-down tackle late in the game against Washburn, which helped set up the team’s game-winning drive … recorded 40 tackles on rushing plays, 13 on pass plays, and seven on punt coverage … named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
 
2014- Appeared in all 11 games and started the final four games of the season … was third on the team with 58 tackles and second with 7.0 tackles for loss … also recorded 0.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and two forced fumbles … recorded a season-high 12 tackles against Missouri Southern … had at least one tackle in every game, including five games with seven or more tackles … had 44 tackles on rushing plays and 10 on passing plays … recorded four special teams tackles, including three on punt coverage … had a 0.5 tackle for loss or more in seven games, including season-highs of 1.5 tackles for loss in two games … assisted on a sack against Nebraska-Kearney … had two pass breakups against Northeastern State … caused a turnover against Emporia State with a forced fumble that was recovered by the Lions … named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

2013- Honorable mention all-MIAA … Lindenwood’s Freshman of the Year … appeared in all nine games and started six contests … led the team in tackles with 62 … finished third in the MIAA and 34th in NCAA Division II with 5.4 solo tackles a game … led the team with 46 tackles on rushing plays … had two tackles on kickoff coverage … led the team in tackles in three contests … recorded six or more tackles in the final seven games of the season … had double-figure tackles with 11 against Missouri S&T and 10 versus Fort Hays State … had 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack … recorded 2.0 tackles for loss and a sack against Pittsburg State … also broke up a pass in that game … received the team’s Hard Hat award for the Fort Hays State games … named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and was a MIAA Scholar-Athlete.
 
High School:
Two-time all-state selection … first-team all-district … first-team all-conference.

The son of Laura and Robert Koons … has two siblings, Patrick and Jake … a criminal justice major.
