Jamie Marshall is in his third season on the Lindenwood football coach staff in 2018. After being the program's assistant head coach and defensive line coach in 2016, he was promoted to defensive coordinator prior to the 2017 season.

In his first season as defensive coordinator, the Lions allowed 7.2 points less a contest, and also allowed nearly 100 fewer yards a game. Lindenwood ranked in the top half of the MIAA in both scoring defense and total defense, after ranking second-to-last in total defense the year before. The Lions allowed under 30 points a game for the first time since the 2012 season.

Marshall helped Jonathan Harris earn first-team all-MIAA honors on the defensive line, and Bakari Triggs was a second-team selection as a defensive back. Safety Darrius Williams picked up third-team honors, and two players earned honorable mention awards.
In his first season at Lindenwood, Marshall helped oversee an improved defensive line. Among the players he coached was Harris who earned third-team all-MIAA honors after having six sacks and 11.0 tackles for loss.

Marshall came to Lindenwood after coaching at Montana State from 2007-2015. He was the defensive coordinator, and also served as the assistant head coach from 2013-2015. He also coached linebackers, defensive backs, and safeties.

Marshall helped Montana State reach four NCAA FCS playoffs in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014, and he helped the Bobcats win three conference championships from 2010-2012. He coached two Buck Buchanan Award winners (Caleb Schreibeis and Brad Daly) as the National Defensive Players of the Year. Marshall also helped coach five first-team All-Americans, three Big Sky Defensive Players of the Year, and 12 first-team all-conference selections.

While Montana State’s defensive coordinator, the team led the Big Sky three times in total defense, twice in pass defense and sacks, and once in rush defense and scoring defense.

Marshall was an assistant coach at Drake University from 1999-2006, including being the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for his final five seasons. He coached eight first-team all-conference players and one conference Defensive Player of the Year. Drake led the Pioneer Football league in sacks once, and was second in total defense and scoring defense twice.

Marshall was a player at Drake from 1995-1998. He was a three-year starter in the defensive backfield, and twice earned honorable mention all-conference honors. He helped the Bulldogs win league championships in 1995 and 1998.

Marshall graduated from Drake in 1998 with a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education. He coached one season of high school before entering the college ranks.

Marshall and his wife, Kristi, have two children, Cole and Piper.
