Kenny Sims returns to Lindenwood in 2015 as the program's wide receivers coach. He was previously a member of the coaching staff in 2013 when he was a graduate assistant that assisted with defensive backs and special teams.
In his first time on the Lindenwood coaching staff, he helped coach Pierre Desir, the 2013 Cliff Harris award winner as the Small College Defensive Player of the Year. Desir had four interceptions and eight pass breakups on the year despite rarely being targeted. He also earned All-American, all-region, and all-conference honors, and was a fourth-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns. Sims also helped Wesley Thomas earn honorable mention all-MIAA honors.
In 2014, Sims was a recruiting graduate assistant for the SEC West Champions Missouri Tigers. He helped recruit defensive lineman and tight ends. Other responsibilities included being in charge of campus tours for recruits, and assisting with the planning of official and unofficial visits. Sims also gained coaching experience at Hazelwood East High School where he was the special teams coordinator and defensive backs and wide receivers coach for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
Sims was a former cornerback at the University of Tulsa from 2006 to 2009. He was a three-year starter and played in 50 games during his career. He recorded 122 tackles, including 6.0 tackles for loss, three interceptions, 19 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He helped Tulsa reach three bowl games and to win two GMAC Bowl Championships.
Sims graduated from Tulsa in 2010 with an exercise science degree, and is expected to earn his Master's in Education from Lindenwood in 2015.
