Matt Karleskint is in his third season on the Lindenwood football coaching staff in 2015. He was promoted to Offensive Coordinator in 2014 after serving as the team’s Pass Game Coordinator his first season.
Last season, the Lions continued to have one of the top passing games in the MIAA. Lindenwood ranked second in the conference with 256.7 passing yards a game. Karleskint helped the development of true freshman quarterback Graham Lindman who started seven games, and had two 300-yard passing games and four 275-yard passing contests.
Four offensive players earned postseason awards from the league, including second-team honors for wide receiver Jaron Alexander. Running back Lavorrie Johnson, wide receiver Greg Coble, and lineman Jacob Heneisen were all honorable mention all-MIAA picks.
In his first year at Lindenwood, the team had one of the top passing games in program history, including setting a school record with 25.1 pass completions a game, and finishing fourth in program history with just under 300 passing yards a game. The Lions finished 24th in NCAA Division II in passing offense and complete nearly 60 percent of their passing attempts. Quarterback Dillon Miller finished third in the MIAA in passing yards per game, and he set a school record for most completions in a game and most completed passes per game for a season.
Prior to coming to Lindenwood, Karleskint was most recently the wide receivers coach at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He also served as the recruiting coordinator at that school. Karleskint helped the team’s offense average 26.1 points and 406.4 yards of total offense a game last season, an improvement of 5.5 points and 60.7 yards from the previous season.
Karleskint coached the 2010 and 2011 seasons at Iowa State University as an offensive line assistant coach. Among the players he worked with was tackle Kelechi Osemele, a first-team All-American and second-round NFL pick.
Karleskint has previous coaching experience in the MIAA at Missouri Southern State University and Northwest Missouri State University. He was at Missouri Southern from 2005-10 and was the Offensive Coordinator when Adam Hinspeter set every major passing record in school history. He coached at Northwest Missouri from 2004-05. He was the running backs coach when Xavier Omon set school records for rushing yards in back-to-back seasons, and was a member of the staff for the 2005 NCAA runner-up team.
Karleskint also has experience coaching with Lindenwood head coach Patrick Ross. Karleskint was on Ross' staff in 2002 and 2003 at Ottawa University, including the Ottawa team that won the 2003 KCAC Championship and advanced to the NAIA National Playoffs.
Karleskint earned his Bachelor of Arts in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Kansas Wesleyan University in 2002. He earned Masters of Education from Northwest Missouri in 2005 and Iowa State University in 2011.
