Randy Lightfoot

Randy Lightfoot has been associated with the Lindenwood bowling team since its creation in the fall of 1999.  He served as head coach of the program from the summer of 2004 to 2010 and has been men’s head coach from 2004 to present.

He brings a lifetime of bowling experience to Lindenwood.  A graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis and 13 year touring professional bowler, Lightfoot holds three national Professional Bowling Association (PBA) titles including the 1981 American Bowling Congress Master’s Championship.   He has been elected to the Missouri, St. Louis and St. Charles, Mo., Bowling Halls of Fame and was listed as one of the top 100 coaches in the country for 2008 by Bowler’s Journal Magazine. At 18, he was the youngest PBA amateur ever to make televised bowling competition appearances.

The Lindenwood team has enjoyed a tremendous run of success under Lightfoot’s leadership.  He led the Lions to their first USBC Intercollegiate Team Championship (ITC) title in program history in 2005, and the men won again in 2014.  In addition, the Lions advanced to the national semifinals in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2015, and they earned the Crystal Pin as the high qualifier at the ITC in 2011 and 2013.  Lindenwood has made the 16 team ITC field in 13 straight seasons, and set a modern 64 game qualifying scoring record at the 2016 Las Vegas Sectional.

In his Lindenwood career, Lightfoot has coached 11 National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) All-Americans including a national Most-Valuable Player and two national Rookies-of-the-Year. Seven players have been named to ITC All-Tournament Teams, and eight Lions were also members of Junior Team USA at one time.

Lightfoot has been director of the St. Charles Bowling Association, he’s been nominated for NCBCA Coach-of-the-Year multiple times, and he’s currently certified as a Silver Level coach through the USBC.
